A huge congratulations to the entire team at Rotor Lab on their acquisition by Unusual Machines. It’s an incredible milestone that recognises hard work, bold thinking, and deep commitment to building sovereign propulsion technology here in Australia.
We’re proud to have been part of that journey from the early days through to this strategic acquisition. At Geodetica, our role has always been about backing great teams to do great things, and with Rotor Lab that meant rolling up our sleeves and helping lay the groundwork for scalable growth.
Our role in Rotor Lab’s journey included:
- Strategic advice: Geodetica worked with Rotor Lab’s executive team to guide key decisions about business model design, commercial strategy, and organisational structure. Our insights helped position Rotor Lab as a viable and attractive partner in Defence and dual-use technology markets.
- Business support: We provided hands-on assistance with grant applications, internal systems, and operational scale-up facilities which allowed the technical team to focus on what they do best: delivering world-class propulsion solutions.
- Business development: Through our deep network and sector knowledge, Geodetica identified strategic opportunities, built partnerships, and strengthened Rotor Lab’s market position within the broader sovereign capability landscape.
As Rotor Lab steps into its next chapter – playing a key role in a major new 17,000 sq ft facility in Florida – we’re reflecting on the journey with a real sense of pride.
“This success shows Geodetica’s strength in bridging the gap between early-stage innovation and commercial manufacturing – a capability we’re excited to bring to GeoVentus too,” says Jason Vella, Managing Director of Geodetica and GeoVentus. “Transitioning dual-use materials from prototype to production to serve Defence and other industries, which in turn boosts Australia’s sovereign capability, is something we will always be passionate about.”
