We’re excited to announce that experienced technical specialist Chris Dowton has joined the Geodetica team as our newest consultant.
Chris comes to us with a career spanning over a decade in Defence, and brings a wealth of expertise in navigation projects and managing the delivery of C4ISREW (Command, Control, Communications, Computers; Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance; and Electronic Warfare).
Growing up in a military family, Chris’s affinity for Defence was a natural fit. His journey in Defence began with a role in a novel geospatial project where he later transitioned to navigation systems before advancing in the field of C4ISREW systems.
“I’ve mainly been involved in navigation systems for many years, which has allowed me to hone my expertise in that area – working with and learning from some amazing people. This included Jason and Oliver who I first met while working on geospatial projects and later on the Offshore Patrol Vessels project.
“When the opportunity arose to come onboard with Geodetica, I felt the timing was right to explore the industry side where I could still support Defence but also contribute my knowledge to other organisations.”
Stepping into project management roles, Chris says he is excited to join a highly experienced team with deep expertise in this area.
“I’m looking forward to learning from everyone in the team and sharing the knowledge and skills I’ve gained over the past 12 years. Moving into the private sector, and Geodetica specifically, allows me to provide value in new and different ways which is the perfect next step in my career.”
Beyond his professional endeavours, Chris is a self-confessed foodie who loves to cook and explore various cuisines. He particularly enjoys baking and has even prepared decadent tiered cakes for his friends’ weddings. Additionally, Chris finds solace in the great outdoors and enjoys exploring or camping in the region whenever the opportunity arises.
